Rev. Charles Reynolds

Reverend Charles Reynolds was born in 1834 in Rocky Springs, Mississippi. He married his wife Ellen in 1856. At the age of 68 in 1902 after a career in the ministry, Charles became minister of the Congregational Church in Downers Grove when he essentially swapped pulpits with Rev. Libby. Rev Reynolds was a strong prohibitionist. He died here in 1912. While he purchased the lot in the Main Street Cemetery and has stone engraved with "In Memoriam", he was actually buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago.
